How to Start Heart of Azeroth on a Boosted Character
A boosted character does not begin the Heart of Azeroth questline on its own. You need to reach Battle for Azeroth content first, then pick up the neck piece from the opening campaign in Boralus (Alliance) or Dazar'alor (Horde). Until you own the Heart, the Azerite from your weekly chest has nowhere to go.
Once the Heart is on your neck, it levels with Azerite Power and unlocks essences at set ranks. That is why the chest matters so much: a single Mythic+15 reward gives you a large chunk of that progress in one go.
Steps in order
- Reach level 120 and accept the War Campaign introduction for your faction.
- Finish the early quests until the Heart of Azeroth is handed to you.
- Equip it, then open the Heart panel to see your Azerite level and essence slots.
- Run a few normal dungeons to test your gear before attempting keys.
Expect the intro to take around one to two hours if you skip side quests. Faster than most people think.
Azerite Power Boost From a Weekly Chest
The chest pays out Azerite Power directly, so a character that starts the week with a low-level Heart can jump several levels after one reset. Higher Heart levels matter for essences, since rank upgrades and extra slots depend on them. If your Heart is level 30 or below, the gain feels huge. Past level 70, it slows down a lot.
Gear still decides how your keys go. A fresh boosted character usually sits below the item level needed for comfortable +15 runs, so many players read up on a BFA mythic+15 key boost before trying alone, and check the details of the BFA Mythic+ weekly chest season 4 to compare rewards at lower key levels.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I start Heart of Azeroth on a boosted character?
Go to Boralus or Dazar'alor and begin the faction war campaign at level 120. The Heart is given after the first quest chain, which takes about an hour or two. After that, it starts collecting Azerite Power.
Can I use weekly chest Azerite before getting the Heart?
No, the Azerite has nothing to feed until you own the necklace. Get the Heart first, then collect your chest at the next weekly reset.
Do I need a high item level to get the essences?
Not for the Heart itself. Essences unlock by Azerite level and by reputation or activity, so item level only affects how easily you clear the keys.
Is the Keystone Master achievement worth chasing?
Yes, if you want the mount. It requires timing every +15 dungeon, and the Keystone Master season 4 boost topic explains the full requirements before Shadowlands content takes over.
