Faction Mounts

Alliance/Horde Faction mounts are among the easiest ones to obtain. There are 33 Horde/Alliance specific mounts you can buy. You can obtain 7 (or 6, depending on your race) mounts by just leveling up and buying them with gold. To buy other races mounts you need to reach exalted reputation with that race's capital city. An easy way to reach exalted with race factions is wearing their tabard and running TBC/WOTLK dungeons like Botanica or Halls of Lighting.

After getting Faction specific mounts, if you have the time, you can grind Mists of Pandaria factions reputations. Mists of Pandaria factions offer 31 mounts, but if you just want the easy ones, these will take some time.

Class Specific Mounts

Each class has its own mount (some added with Legion class halls). They are obtained via class quest lines or Class Hall quest lines added in Legion.

Vendor Mounts

You can just buy them with gold if you have, and they are mostly cheap and can be bought with not a lot of gold. They can get cheaper if you have reputation with that faction and get a discount.

The cheapest ones are Wind Riders available to buy from Mei Francis in Dalaran (Both old Dalaran and the new one added in Legion). She sells 11 mounts for both Horde and Alliance.

You can buy 3 mounts from Uncle Bigpocket located in Kun-Lai Summit (cords: 65 61). 2 of his mount are pretty cheap (3,000k) but the Grand Expedition Yak requires 120,000k Gold. If you are on a budget, you can skip it.

Legion has one gold sink mount, the Bloodfang Widow you can buy with 2 million gold from The Mad Merchant. Battle for Azeroth also added 5 Gold sink mounts you can buy. 2 from Talutu (Palehide Direhorn and Caravan Brotosaur, for 500k and 5 million) and 3 from Gottum (each for 333,333 gold).

Profession Mounts

There are 29 mounts available from professions, but you can obtain them all by one character because of the 2 profession limit. You can buy some of the mounts that other professions can craft like Engineering, Jewelcrafting, Blacksmithing, and Archeology mounts.

You can obtain these mounts from your other characters and they will count toward your total mounts earned.

Achievement Mounts

Some achievements reward you with a mount once completed. These achievements are mostly related to Dungeons and Raids, namely the Uncorrupted Voidwing that is obtained after getting Ahead of the Curve. You can buy the Uncorrupted Voidwing and similar mounts for your character.

Glory of the Raider

These types of achievements are earned by completing raids doing specific things for each boss. All raids (except for a few) available after Ulduar awards mount for completing the Glory of the <Raid Name> Raider. There are 21 mounts available from these achievements. You can do them with your guild, or just find a pug doing them.

Glory of the Hero

These achievements are earned by completing dungeons, doing specific things for each dungeon. Each expansion has one Glory of the Hero achievement (Except for TBC and Vanilla) which makes 6 mounts available from these types of achievements. Some of the achievements can be done solo, while others require a group.

Mount Achievements

Collecting mounts also gives you mounts! You get these achievements and rewards after earning a specific amount of mounts (earned for 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, 350, and 400).

Other Achievements

You can also get mounts from doing other activities like collecting 35 heirlooms. The easiest ones are [Two Sides to Every Tale] and [...And Chew Mana Buns] and [Heirloom Hoarder]

Other Mounts

There are a lot of other mounts available, but they might not be as easy as those mentioned above. Guaranteed drops mounts, as much easy as it seems, might not be easy after all. These mounts often drop from elites and a lot of people are camping on them so you either have to be lucky or spend a lot of time on them. Warlords of Draenor Elites are probably the easiest ones to get.
Paid mounts are also easy to get if you enough money!

WoW Easy Mounts: Where to Start in 2026

If you want WoW easy mounts with the least effort, begin with the ones that cost only gold and a bit of walking. Vendor mounts from Mei Francis in Dalaran and Uncle Bigpocket in Kun-Lai Summit need no raid group, no luck and no reputation grind. Check your gold first, then pick the cheapest.

A realistic first session: buy two or three vendor mounts, finish your class mount quest, and queue for one old dungeon with a tabard on. That alone can add five or six mounts to your collection in a weekend.

Easiest Mounts to Get in WoW for a New Collector

Order matters. Start with what costs nothing but time, then move on to what costs gold.

  • Class mounts from quest lines, since every class has at least one.
  • Faction mounts you can buy at level cap with gold alone (6 or 7, depending on your race).
  • Mount achievement rewards, which arrive on their own at 50, 100 and 150 mounts.
  • Profession mounts, if one of your two professions already fits.

Skip anything labeled a rare drop at first. Camping an elite for three hours for a 1 percent chance is a poor use of an evening.

Easy to Get Mounts: Using Your Spare Characters

Mounts are account-wide, so alts earn their keep. A level 10 character can pick up a few cheap vendor mounts in Dalaran only if you can reach them, but a max-level alt with a different race opens another set of faction mounts and another city reputation.

Two characters with different professions cover far more ground than one. Engineering and Jewelcrafting are the best pairing, because five mounts from each can be crafted and sold, so even a profession you dislike can pay for itself.

WoW Vendor Mounts Worth Buying First

Not every vendor mount is a bargain. The Wind Riders at Mei Francis are the cheapest, and you can pick up several with a modest gold stash. Uncle Bigpocket has two cheap options, while the Grand Expedition Yak at 120,000 gold is a luxury.

The 2 million gold Bloodfang Widow and the 5 million gold Caravan Brotosaur are for people with far too much gold. Ignore them until your gold is flowing.

Faction Mounts in World of Warcraft: Alliance vs Horde

Your faction decides which racial mounts you can buy directly. Most players are surprised by how far a single tabard takes them, because each capital city reputation unlocks one more mount, and the dungeon runs you already do count toward it. Switch tabards between runs and you progress on several cities at once, one at a time.

WoW Mounts Beyond the Easy Ones

Once the basics are done, pick a target by difficulty. The Violet Spellwing mount is a good example of a collectible that takes real effort, while the Lucid Nightmare mount and the Aerial Unit R-21/X mount sit in the harder tier. If a mount needs a coordinated group and you lack one, WoW mount boosts are an option some players consider, though many prefer the satisfaction of earning it.
